Board Certification in neuropsychology is a voluntary process and not a requirement to practice in the field. Unfortunately, most states do not have regulations on who can call themselves a neuropsychologist. Therefore, there are significant variability in knowledge and expertise. 

Those who are board-certified have demonstrated, through rigorous evaluation, advanced expertise and ethical commitment beyond basic licensure. This is the highest level of accreditation available in this speciality.
