Areas of Practice & Specialization
AgingCognitive decline can be part of a normal aging process. A neuropsychological evaluation will compare scores to other individuals with similar demographics to determine whether experienced cognitive changes are normal for age or an indication of a neurodegenerative process (or other condition).
Neurodegenerative DisordersChanges in thinking and behavior may be an indication of a neurodegenerative process. A neuropsychological evaluation will help patients and their providers establish a diagnosis (Alzheimer's disease, cerebralvascular disease, Lewy bodies disease, Parkinson's disease, Multiple Sclerosis, etc.).
Traumatic Brain InjuriesConcussions and traumatic brain injuries can result in changes in cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and physical functioning. A neuropsychological evaluation will help characterize cognitive strengths and weaknesses, aid in treatment, career, and education planning, and provide information about independent functioning.
ADHD and Learning DisordersAttention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or a specific learning disorder may negatively impact educational, occupational, and emotional functioning. A psychoeducational assessment will clarify diagnoses and help individuals, family members, and educators better understand how a diagnosis can influence thinking, learning, and behavior.
Other Medical ConditionsVarious medical conditions are known to impact cognitive functioning. Common conditions include chronic pain, sleep disorders, cancers, autoimmune disorders, and substance use disorders. A neuropsychological evaluation can help determine the underlying cause of experienced cognitive difficulties.
