CLINICAL Neuropsychological Evaluation |
A comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation is used (1) to help diagnose a known or suspected neurological or psychological condition, (2) to characterize cognitive strengths and weaknesses, (3) to determine changes in thinking abilities to aid in treatment planning and lifestyle recommendations, and/or (4) to establish a baseline prior to potential future problems.

- Dementias (Alzheimer’s, Vascular, etc.)
- Concussion/Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
- Stroke
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Movement disorders (Parkinson's Disease, etc.)
- Epilepsy
- Brain Tumors
- HIV/AIDS
- Psychiatric disorders/symptoms (e.g., depression, anxiety)
- Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Other cognitive impairment resulting from medical conditions
Older ADULT CAPACITY EVALUaTION
Capacity evaluations are used to determine if an older adult is experiencing a mental health and/or neurocognitive disorder that is affecting their functional/decisional abilities. This type of evaluation typically includes:
- An interview with the older adult and key informants
- Cognitive and psychological testing to establish and stage a diagnosis if applicable
- A decisional ability assessment (e.g. financial decision making for cases of wills, contracts)
- Identification of needed adaptations and environmental support
- Integration of findings with relevant legal standards
